“Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”” Ezekiel 37:4-6 ESV
Lord, I think of the disciples and your followers who walked the earth with you and wonder how they were feeling the day after your death. What were they thinking? I am sure they were heartbroken. I would guess, confused. What about all the promises they believed about you and your kingdom? Was it all a lie? Did they get it wrong? You told them you would rise again on the third day, but they didn’t understand. I would guess that you being raised from the dead, when you didn’t save yourself on the cross, was probably not something they were thinking.
Lord, I can relate to them. How many times in our life are we facing situations, dreams, promises, etc. that look like they have died? Why is it so easy to declare them dead, give up on them, mourn them, allow discouragement and hopelessness to take over. Lord, forgive us. Give us greater faith to trust you and believe that you can raise the dead. Let us hold onto hope and wait in expectation for what is coming. Let us declare your breath into the dead bones and expect them to come to life. Even if it takes decades, let us not give up on you, for if it is from you, it will come to pass. You declared in Matthew 17:22-23, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise." Tomorrow is the 3rd day, and the promise is about to become a reality. Hallelujah!
In Jesus name, amen.
