March 31, 2025 - Matthew‬ ‭13‬:‭11‬-‭12

“And he answered them, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.” Matthew 13:11-12 ESV

Lord, this was the answer that you gave the disciples when they asked why you spoke in parables. Not everyone is ready to hear and understand your message, but others have been prepared to receive what you have to say. Please make us ready to hear and understand all that you have for us. We want to be ones who search out your truth. We want to go below the surface level and really understand what you are truly saying. Reveal to us the secrets of your kingdom. Give us a greater hunger to go deeper and not be satisfied with just face value. We want to be people who do our research to understand the setting and culture. To look not at verses as they stand alone, but how they fit into what you are saying as a whole.

Holy Spirit, guide us through scripture and give us your understanding. Open our eyes to things we have never seen before. Increase our minds’ capacity to both understand things that are beyond us and remember what you are teaching us. Bless us with more of your wisdom and let us use our knowledge and wisdom for your glory and honor. Give us a greater understanding so we can know you and make you known.
