“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will” Ephesians 1:4-5 NIV
Lord, we thank you for choosing us. Regardless of the mistakes we make and how we fall short regularly, you love us. You knew in advance how we would make mistakes and make choices again and again that would go against your will, but you still chose us. And you don’t regret that decision. Your love for us is beyond my comprehension.
Father, we thank you for adopting us as your sons and daughters. Again, knowing how much we would mess up and not always represent you well; how often we would run away and do our own thing; how often we would not trust you and your ways; how often we would believe the lies of the enemy in our lives over your voice speaking truth; knowing all that, you still chose to adopt us. You said it was your pleasure and joy to adopt us. We thank you for the rights and privileges that come with being a son and daughter of the King.
Wow, what a God you are. Lord, it is such an honor to be loved like this. To be loved like this by anyone would be an honor, but we are loved like this by the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the God of the universe, the Alpha and Omega, the I Am. To say it is an honor is an understatement of a lifetime.
Thank you, Father, for calling us chosen. Let us never forget that.
In Jesus name, amen.
