“For even the Son of Man did not come expecting to be served by everyone, but to serve everyone, and to give his life as the ransom price for the salvation of many.” Mark 10:45 TPT
What an amazing God you are. It confounds our human minds that the Almighty God, the creator of everything, would choose to come to earth to serve and not be served. Crazy. Of all the people who deserved to be served it would have been the King of Kings. But no, you laid down all your authority, came to earth as a mere human to serve mankind. Talk about operating in the opposite spirit of this world.
Lord, if you were willing to lay down everything to come and serve others, we want to be willing to serve as well. Help us not to look at different situations and think, we deserve more or better. Help us walk in surrender and humility with an attitude of serving and blessing others. Forgive us for any place resentment, entitlement, or pride has come out in us in these situations.
Even if there are all kinds of reasons why we shouldn’t have to do “___”, help us see it as a way to bless, love, and serve. Forgive us when out of frustration we grumble our way through instead of serving joyfully. Let it be what makes us stand out so clearly from the world. Let it be such a testimony to others. Help us be willing to die to our selfishness and our rights, and then willingly give of ourselves so others experience your love and grace.
Lord, we thank you that you don’t ask anything of us that you didn’t already do. You don’t just rule from your throne demanding things from us. We thank you that you came and lived it. And we thank you that you are with us every step of the way helping us walk a lifestyle of service. You are so good to us. We thank you.
In Jesus name, amen.
