“So don’t be dismayed when the wicked grow rich and their homes become ever more splendid. For when they die, they take nothing with them. Their wealth will not follow them into the grave. In this life they consider themselves fortunate and are applauded for their success. But they will die like all before them and never again see the light of day. People who boast of their wealth don’t understand; they will die, just like animals.” Psalms 49:16-20 NLT
Lord, we thank you that in you we have something that holds far more value than anything this world has to offer, and it will last for all eternity. How amazing! We praise you for the true treasure that you are. Help us spend our life working toward drawing closer to you and discovering more and more of your treasures. So many people invest their whole lives into things that pass away, but you are the greatest thing of value that is worth a lifetime of investment.
Lord, in saying that, we also know that you delight in blessing your children with earthly treasures as well. You want to see us enjoy life here on earth. You are not against earthly wealth when we hold the correct perspective of it and want to see it used for your glory. Change any misconceptions we have about earthly wealth. Help us not seek after it just to store it up for wealth’s sake, for that is greed. Help us learn to bring wealth in so that we can use it to advance your kingdom and then enjoy the overflow in the process. Let us see it not as our own, but yours so that we hold it with an open hand trusting you to allow it to flow through us, all the while using it to advance your Kingdom’s purpose before our own. Help us have this attitude whether we have a lot or a little. Align our perspective on money to yours so you can trust us with all you want to bless us with, then we pray that you would bless us indeed.
In Jesus name, amen.
