“Those troublemakers who have turned the world upside down have come here to our city.” Acts 17:6 TPT
Lord, when we look at the disciples and their followers mentioned in the Bible, we love hearing the stories about the faith that they had. They saw such miracles and lived with such passion. So many of them also died because of that passion. They put spreading your love with the world over their own lives. Lord, grow our faith and love for you to this level. As being a Christian, especially one who really makes a stand for your ways, becomes less and less acceptable in our world, we want to be willing to still shine bright for you at any cost.
Let us live our lives up to your standards, even if it looks so different to the standards of this world-especially if it looks different to the standards of this world. In this passage some Jesus followers were being accused of being “troublemakers” who were turning the world upside down. This was how they identified the early church. Lord, we want to be people who turn the world upside down for you. Let our lifestyles look so different that it looks like we are living upside down. We want our lives to look different so that it draws attention to you. We don’t want to blend into the patterns of this world, but we want to stand out as living in the patterns of your kingdom.
Holy Spirit, we invite you to come and show us any area of our lives that we are living in a compromised way that doesn’t line up with your Kingdom ways. Please forgive us for those areas and show us how to change them. Grow in us and help us be alright with standing out, regardless of the consequences. We want our lives to bring you glory in all that we do. We want to turn the world upside down for you.
In Jesus name, amen.
